Dear Members,

Greetings from Hyderabad.

Let me begin by expressing my gratitude to each one of you for giving me the opportunity to be Honorary Secretary of SOAPC. I would also like to thank all the previous office bearers of SOAPC for building a strong society in a short duration of 7 years.

Today, we are a society of over 600 members with 8 city branches and are continuously growing and collaborating to enhance Onco-Anaesthesia. SOAPCCON is the annual conference of the society that is a platform for sharing knowledge and recent advances in the field of Onco-Anaesthesia. SOAPC has developed consensus guidelines on HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intra-Peritoneal Chemotherapy), opioid-free anaesthesia and COVID-19 advisory.

We are running a one-year Onco-Anaesthesia fellowship in 12 centers accredited by SOAPC. Twenty eight students have been conferred FOAPM (Fellowship in Onco-Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine) over the last 3 years. We are working towards a centralised entrance exam for joining SOAPC fellowships. As a continuing academic activity, SOAPC has been conducting online webinars which are well attended and we have completed 76 webinars so far.

JOAPM (Journal of Onco-Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine) is an official journal of SOAPC and the only journal exclusively publishing work in Onco-Anaesthesia. The journal does not have publication charges and gives open access to its content. The SOAPC website showcases the activities of the society, details of the members and fellowship. We are making it more comprehensive, up-to-date and user friendly.
